2016 Paralympic Swimming Behind the Scenes of Day One

On the first night of Paralympic swimming action nine Paralympic records and eight world records fell.

The Chinese opened the night taking gold and silver in the men’s and women’s S6 100 backstrokes. They closed the night taking the top two spots in the women’s S7 100 backstroke. Ukraine also saw a number of athletes take home medals tonight.

Daniel Dias won the home country’s first swimming gold of the week with a 2:27.88 in the S5 200 freestyle.
