Many teams were unexpectedly idle last weekend due to weather cancellations, but expect Division 3 teams to get back on track this weekend. A number of schools will celebrate their seniors in the final dual meet of the season as conference championships are quickly approaching.
Saturday’s action features a Centennial Conference match up. The Washington College men and women are currently ranked 23rd. The Ursinus College women are just ahead with a 19th placed ranking. In the women’s 200 free Ursinus senior Corinne Capodanno has posted a season best 1:53.90. Washington’s Julia Portman will be right on her heels (1:54.23). While Ursinus junior Peyton Lyons has posted the nation’s 10th fastest 100 backstroke (56.60) her teammates Micaela Lyons (1:00.61), Alli Hemp (1:01.48), and Samantha Kegel (1:02.22) should be a good match for Washington’s Ellen Maxwell (1:02.92).
The 200 freestyle should also be a great race in men’s action. Washington College’s Jason Mercando has swum a 1:48.88 and Ursinus’ Marcus Wagner posted a 1:47.08 earlier this season. Washington’s Lucan Morgan (4:56.46) should be chasing Ursinus’ Wagner (4:46.22), Dylan Cooper (4:51.07) and Kevin Gill (4:54.19) in the 500 freestyle. The meet should be great preparation for both teams, just three weeks away from the Centennial Conference Championship.
