3 Top Storylines for NCAA Division 3 This Weekend

With many NCAA Division 3 teams just beginning training trips, there are just a few Division 3 meets this weekend. Some teams will compete in meets while on training trips, though many of these have historically been exhibition or unscored. We’ll see what results we have access to, but here are a few meets to keep an eye on this weekend.

1. The Case Western and Rochester women are both ranked teams who will face off in Del Ray Beach, Florida. The Yellow Jackets of Rochester claimed the Liberty League title in December. The team will look to keep the momentum going, facing the Case Western squad which won the Wooster Invitational a month ago.

2. On the men’s side, the number one ranked Kenyon men will swim number eight Washington (MO) and the Coast Guard Academy. Washington had 11 men earn B cuts at their December invite. Bears Luke Dobben and Andrew Ellison hold the 11th and 16th fastest times (4:31.86 and 4:33.82) in the nation in the 500 freestyle while Kenyon swimmers Arthur Conover and David Perez are ranked just ahead in fifth and eighth (4:30.13 and 4:31.36). Look for these two distance duos to have some great races.

3. Both WPI and Pomona-Pitzer teams will compete on Tuesday. While only the WPI men and the Pomona-Pitzer women are ranked, the meets should provide good competition for both teams. WPI will have the added test to perform well despite traveling across the country.
