4 Things to Remember When Things Go Wrong

Swimming is full of ups and downs. You can go for days at a time with everything seeming to go right, until all of a sudden everything seems to go wrong. You don’t hit your pace, you get hurt, or just anything does not go the way you hoped.

Two weeks ago my team’s fall break training camp in Puerto Rico was suddenly canceled over concerns of Zika. In telling us, one of my coaches warned us not to be bitter and let it take advantage of our training for the week. It could have been very easy to let the abrupt change of plans negatively affect our weeks.

Instead, we did our best to remind ourselves of the following four points to help us get through the week:
