Adam Ellenstein Completes 65 Mile Swim of Lake Okanagan

Adam Ellenstein completed a 65 mile (105 kilometer) swim of Lake Okanagan in British Columbia on Tuesday night. The swim, which he estimated would take 40 hours to complete, took almost 41.

After the swim the 39 year old reported, “We are feeling over the moon with excitement and happiness. Our dreams came to fruition yesterday and the crew and I couldn’t be more happy with the way things turned out. It’s a pretty good feeling when you achieve something you set your mind to and for such a great purpose.”

As he had before attempting the swim, Ellenstein emphasized the mental component. The swim was dedicated to his aunt Susan Scarlet and her battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Scarlet even joined him in the water for a part of his swim.

Having completed the record setting swim, Ellenstein is unsure of what his next challenge will be. But, he did report, “I’m not going to rush anything and I’m not going to jump back into anything.  When the time is right something will come up and we’ll committ ourselves.”
