Anna Olasz Reportedly Given Russian Olympic Open Water Spot

Editorial Coverage Sponsored BySpeedo-logo

This morning FINA announced seven Russian swimmers who were no longer eligible to compete in Rio. Open water swimmer Anastasia Krapivina was on that list. Krapivina had a positive doping suspension in 2013, thus the Russian Olympic Committee pulled her entry as she did not comply with the third IOC condition for Russian Olympic participation.

Krapivinia finished fifth in last summer’s 10K at the World Championships, automatically qualifying her for Rio. In last summer’s race in Kazan, Russia she finished just two seconds shy of a medal.

Hungary’s Anna Olasz finished 11th in that race last summer. Hungarian media is reported that Olasz will fill Krapivina’s spot in Rio.
