Canadians Sweep Fourth Stop of FINA Open Water World Cup

The fourth stop of the 2016 FINA Open Water World Cup took place in Lac St. Jean, Canada on Thursday and Canadians won both the women’s and the men’s event.

In the women’s 10K, Stephanie Horner snagged victory by a second, finishing in 2:06:15. Just a second behind her was American Emily Brunemann in 2:06:16. Germany’s Angela Maurer finished third with a 2:06:20.

The race was a final tune up for Horner who will compete in her third Olympic Games, this year in open water.

The men’s event was also a tight finish between the top two. Philippe Guertin edged American Chip Peterson. The two posted times of 1:57:05 and 1:57:09. Eleven seconds behind was Germany’s Andreas Waschburger in 1:57:20.
