Chad le Clos Headlines Swimming South Africa Grand Prix in Stellenbosch

Fast times, Mzansi talent and international flair kicked off the Stellenbosch leg of the South African Swimming Grand Prix at the University’s Swimming Pool today, Saturday, 27th February 2016.

Chad le Clos did not disappoint, winning gold in the 200m butterfly in 1:56.60 and the 100m freestyle in 48.92, proving that his 2016 Olympic preparations are well on track.

Calvyn Justus and Clayton Jimmie finished second and third in the freestyle event in 50.37 and 50.43, while Brendan Levy and Alard Basson won the silver and bronze in the butterfly in 2:03.45 and 2:05.04 respectively.

Jimmie also made his way to the top of the medal podium in the 50m butterfly, touching the wall in 24.73, ahead of Nico Meyer in 24.75 and Reynard Wessels in 24.84.
