On the fourth night of Olympic swimming semifinals and finals Michael Phelps stole the show. The Greatest of All Time walked away with his 20th and 21st Olympic gold medals.
In the 200 butterfly Phelps snuck out a win by only .04 seconds. The 800 freestyle relay team of Conor Dwyer, Townley Haas, Ryan Lochte, and Phelps dominated the field, winning by nearly two and a half seconds.
Katie Ledecky also made a statement on her way to gold in the 200 freestyle. The 19 year old’s joy and shock afterwards took on a different form than what usually follows her distance dominance.
Katinka Hosszu earned her third Olympic gold medal of the week in the 200 IM. Great Britain’s Siobhan-Marie O’Connor was only three tenths behind for silver.
