Division II Meet Recap Queens Victorious Over Division I Opponents

Queens University of Charlotte continued to try and work themselves to the top of the Division II National Rankings this week by taking down two Division I opponents in dominate fashion. Check out the highlights from that meet and competitions across Division II in this week’s meet recap!

Queens University of Charlotte hosted two Division I opponents this weekend, Gardner-Webb and Richmond (women only) this weekend, sweeping the meet on both sides. The Royals women defeated Gardner-Webb 180-81 and Richmond 182-79, while the Royal men defeated Gardner-Webb 183-79.

The Queens women saw several season bests throughout the meet to continue adding swimmers to the top times in the country. Josephina Lorda notched two wins in the 400 IM and 200 butterfly, touching in season bests 4:26.88 and 2:04.35 respectively to move herself up to fourth in the country in both events. Kyrie Dobson also moved up to fifth in the country in the 50 freestyle, hitting the wall in 23.73. On the men’s side, junior Paul Pijulet rocketed himself to the top time in the country in the 100 butterfly, taking the win in 48.49 before doing the same thing in the 200 backstroke. Splitting 54.14 on the front half to come home in 54.83, Pijulet hit the wall in 1:48.97 to sneak by Northern Michigan’s Renars Bundzis. Notably, junior standout Dion Dreesens did not compete this weekend. Full results of the meet can be found here.
