Elizabeth Beisel Hurts Hand During Warmup at Olympic Trials Will Still Compete

Three-time Olympian Elizabeth Beisel sprained her hand and suffered a small fracture in the warmup pool incident today at Olympic Trials.

X-rays determined that the fracture is small, and it will not require a cast. Beisel still plans on swimming the 200 back beginning Thursday.

Beisel had already qualified for the Olympic team at the time the injury occurred with her second-place finish in the 400 IM Sunday night.

Beisel, who had recently been sick, scratched out of the 400 free and 100 back Monday to rest for the 200 free and 200 IM today, but she finished a disappointing 58th in the 200 free in 2:02.80 and did not swim the 200 IM.
