Final Day of Sunshine State Championships Begins

The final day of the Sunshine State Conference Championships began this morning. The prelims of the men’s and women’s 100 free, 200 backstroke and 200 breastroke were swam.

In the women’s 100 free this morning Florida Southern’s Kelsey Gouge touched the wall first with a 50.96. Natalia Garriock went a 51.12 for the number two seed at finals and Nova Southeastern’s Jordan Shows was a close third going a 51.24.

Current SSC record holder, Thiago Sickert of Nova Southeastern, went a 44.06 in the men’s 100 free this morning. He will be the top seed tonight and will look to best his SSC record of 43.11. Tampa’s Martin Hammer touched second with a 44.36 and Florida Southern’s Jesus Martin went a 44.46 for third.
