Grigory Tarasevich vaulted to fifth in the world in the men’s 100-meter back at the 2016 Russian Nationals.
Tarasevich hit the wall in 53.03 to lead the way out of semifinal 1 of the backstroke. Â That swim cleared the Russian Olympic selection time of 53.99, and put him just ahead of Guilherme Guido (53.10) for fifth in the world.
Only Mitch Larkin (52.48), Ryan Murphy (52.57), Camille Lacourt (52.97) and Xu Jiayu (52.98) have been faster this year.
