Indiana Downs Purdue on Senior Day

By Andy Ross, Swimming World Big Ten Beat Writer

The Indiana Hoosiers proved to be too much for in-state rival Purdue as they were victorious over the Boilermakers 185.5-114.5 on the women’s side and 187-107 on the men’s side.

Indiana Freshman Lilly King won the 100 and 200 breast over Purdue senior Emily Fogle with a 1:00.23 and 2:12.60 proving she is the one to beat for the Big Ten title. Fogle was second in the 100 at 1:01.37 and 3rd in the 200 at 2:16.56 behind Hoosier freshman Miranda Tucker (2:15.40).

Indiana junior Gia Dalesandro and sophomore Kennedy Goss were also double winners for the Hoosiers. Dalesandro won the 200 fly with a spectacular last 50, coming from seventh at the 150 to first at the 200 with a 2:00.85 leading a 1-2-3 for the Hoosiers in front of Reagan Cook (2:01.29) and Olivia Barker (2:01.38). Dalesandro returned later to win the 100 fly with a 54.82.
