Italian and German Teams Win World Junior Open Water Relay Titles

On the final day of the 2016 World Junior Open Water Championships in Hoorn, Netherlands, teams competed in the 14-16 and Under 19 4×1.25K relay.

In the 14-16 relay, the top four teams finished under an hour, though the medal earning squads all finished in close succession. Claiming gold was Italy’s Emanuele Russo, Andrea Filadelli, Ludovica Lugli, and Giulia Berton in 58:06.4. Berton was runner up in her individual 5K on Saturday.

Not even three seconds behind in 58:09.1 were Akos Kalmar, Zoltan Tabi, Janka Juhasz, and Fanni Kun-Szabo of Hungary.

Great Britain’s Hector Pardoe, Phoebe Griffiths, Nathan Hughes, and Leah Crisp completed the podium in 58:12.6. Parode was also third place in his 5K earlier this weekend.
