Kansas Ends Regular Season With Victory Over Rival Iowa State

In a season-culminating dual that was split between two days this past weekend, the Big 12 teams of the Kansas Jayhawks and the Iowa State Cyclones, the Jayhawks claimed the victory with a final score of 172.5-127.5.

The meet started off with a Kansas victory in the 200 medley relay. A team of Yulduz Kuchkarova, Brynce Hinde, Pia Pavlic, and Haley Bishop clocked in a time of 1:43. 96. The Iowa State team of Harper Emsweiler, Kasey Roberts, Kaylee Kucera, and Alex Flatness we second with a time of 1:45.67. Kansas freshman Libby Walker continued the Jayhawks’ momentum with a win in the 1000 free (10:17.95). She was followed by junior teammate Lindsay Manning (10:29.15) and Cyclone senior Molly McNeal (10:29.40). Another Jayhawk, sophomore Madison Straight, won the 200 free with a time of 1:52.24, ahead of Iowa State sophomore Silqi Luo (1:53.36) and fellow Jayhawk, the senior Haley Molden (1:53.55). Kansas continued its win streak with a 1-2 finish in the 100 back–juniors Pia Pavlic and Yulduz Kucharova were 56.22 and 56.26, respectively. Iowa State’s senior Marissa Engel was third (57.60).

Iowa State sophomore Kasey Roberts grabbed the fist Cyclone victory of the meet with a 1:04.15 in the 100 breast. She was followed by Kansas senior Hinde (1:04.60) and Iowa State sophomore Danica Delaquis (1:05.31). Libby Walker then grabbed a second individual win of the meet with her 2:04.03 in the 200 fly. Her senior teammate Chelsie Miller was second (2:04.50) and Iowa State sophomore Mary Kate Luddy was third (2:06.43). A pair of Kansas freshman, Haley Bishop and Brionna Barker, finished in the top two spots in the 50 free with times of 23.22 and 24.18, respectively. The Iowa State junior Maddie Rastall finished in third with a time of 24.36.
