Meet Records In Jeopardy In Day Two Prelims Of 2016 Easterns

Day two of the 2016 Eastern Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championships continued with numerous swimmers posting swift swims during prelims.

Karlee Carminati of Germantown doled out a time of 4:52.72 to claim the first place seed in the women’s 500 free. She leads tonight’s finals by a stunning thirteen seconds. Mercersburg Stephanie Downing returns as second with a 5:05.68, while third goes to Episcopal’s Hadley DeBruyn (5:07.31).

Penn Charter’s Reece Whitley delivered a scorching 53.11 in the men’s 100 breaststroke, lowering his own meet record from 53.66. Whitley, who appeared shocked upon seeing the time, sits a slim .19 seconds off the National Prep record of 52.92 set by Jacob Molacek in 2014.
