New South Intercollegiate Swim Championships Begin

Day one of the New South Intercollegiate Swim Championships began this morning in Cleveland, MI at Delta Sate University. The teams competing this weekend are Delta Sate University, Henderson Sate University, Minnesota Sate University Moorhead, Minnesota Sate Mankato, Northern Sate University, Ouachita Baptist University, St. Cloud State University, University of West Florida and UT-Permian Basin. This morning the prelims of the men’s and women’s 200 IM and 50 freestyle were swam.

In the women’s 200 IM, Theresa Mickalak from West Florida started the meet off strong, going from no entry time, to the fastest swim of the morning. She went a 2:01.64, which is only two one hundredths off of the NSISC record (2:01.62) held by Anna Macht. Coming in second this morning was Minnesota Sate Mankato’s Chelsea Calhoon with a 2:06.31. Kierstin Page of Delta touched in third with a 2:07.15.
