Nonnenberg Sets Alabama Record at Georgia Tech Invitational

It was a record setting day for sophomore Mia Nonnenberg of Alabama.

Nonnenberg finished second in the 500-yard freestyle at Thursday’s finals of the Georgia Tech Invitational, setting an Alabama school record with a time of 4:43.98. The sophomore finished second to Anna Mayfield of Arkansas.

Florida Gulf Coast started off the day with a win in the women’s 200-yard freestyle relay. In the men’s 200-yard medley relay, the home crowd was treated to a win as Georgia Tech beat Alabama by two-tenths of a second.

After Mayfield and Nonnenberg’s battle in the women’s 500-yard freestyle, Anton McKee took home the men’s title for Alabama with a time of 4:17.46.
