It isn’t often two teams are so evenly matched that a dual meet ends in a tie.
After all, when explaining how close a swim meet is scored, I always tell people to divide the final point differential in half and then compare it to a basketball game.
So a tie in swimming is even closer than a tie in basketball. But unlike basketball, swimming has no overtime, so when this rare occurrence of a tie happens, it remains just that, a tie.
