Kevin Cordes could not have cared less that he did not beat his American record from the semifinals of the men’s 100 breast. All that mattered was getting onto the Olympic team, and he took care of business with a win in his signature event Monday night.
In his post-race press conference, Cordes added some commentary on the race but also gave some insight into his training in Singapore with Sergio Lopez and added some commentary on the food he ate while abroad. He also commented on his deep-running connections to the University of Arizona that have stayed strong even since he graduated.
