Rachel Curtiss Named Assistant Coach at Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Washington College head men’s and women’s swim coach Matt Harris has announced the hiring of Rachel Curtiss, a native of Nashville, Tenn., as the assistant coach for both programs.

Curtiss spent the 2015-16 academic year at Vanderbilt University as an intern assistant coach. She also has two years of summer league coaching – guiding a program of over 100 swimmers – and one season of high school coaching under her belt.

Curtiss began swimming at an early age, competing with the Nashville Aquatic Club. She also swam for Ravenwood High School, placing all four years in the Tennessee High School State Championship Meet. She went on two swim four years at Middlebury College, helping the Panthers reach the top five of the highly-competitive NESCAC her junior and senior years. As a freshman at Middlebury, she placed third in the 50 backstroke at the NESCAC Championships, receiving All-NESCAC honors. She consistently placed in both the 100 backstroke and in relay events at NESCAC Championship meets over her four years.
Curtiss received a B.A. in History from Middlebury in 2014.
