Splashbacks Michael Phelps Western Kentucky Lead Stories in MarApr 2015

As is typical, Michael Phelps dominated the news at SwimmingWorld.com in March-April, this time with a pair of stories. During the next few days, we’ll take a look back in “Splashbacks”, the most read stories of 2015.

Controversy reigned when Mark Spitz was quoted as saying that Phelps did not win the 100 fly at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, something Omega Timing has talked about previously.  Meanwhile, Phelps’s head coach Bob Bowman took the Arizona State head coaching position and Phelps confirmed that he would join his mentor in Tempe in the leadup to the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The other major storyline in March-April was the elimination of the collegiate swimming program at Western Kentucky University.  Additionally, French Olympic gold medalist Camille Muffat died during a reality TV show in another shocking headline.

Inside the pool, Adam Peaty made noise with a stunning 57-second 100-meter breaststroke world record, while the Texas men and California women won the NCAA titles.
