St Peters Western Wins Australian Age Group Championship

Queensland’s St Peters Western has successfully defended the 2016 Georgina Hope Foundation Australian Age Champion Club pointscore at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Adelaide tonight.

After six exciting nights of swimming it was the Brisbane-based Dean Boxall coached SPW team that charged away to take the prestigious WJ Harrison Trophy as Queensland again dominated the Inter-State pointscore.

After an early tussle with 2014 winner, Gold Coast’s TSS Aquatics, QLD it was St Peters Western (2500.5) that surged away from TSS Aquatics, QLD 1698.5 with Nunawading, VIC moving into third on 1270.5, narrowly ahead of fellow Victorian club Melbourne Vicentre, VIC 1120, with NSW sister clubs Carlile 1009 and Cherrybrook Carlile 845, followed by MLC Aquatic, VIC 770, UWA West Coast WA 573, Kawana Waters QLD 565 and Southport Olympic, QLD 538 rounding out the Top Ten.

Tonight’s  SPW individual gold medallists Jack Cartwright, Abbey Harkin, Caitlin Leslie and Nathan Robinson and the club’s 18 years and under 4x100m medley relay put the icing on the cake for the club with stunning swims on the final night.
