Sunshine State Conference Championships Begin

The first day of the Sunshine State Conference Championships began this morning at the Orlando YMCA Aquatic Center. The teams competing include Florida Institute of Technology, Florida Southern College, Lynn University, Nova Southern University, Rollins College, Saint Leo University and The University of Tampa. The prelims of the men’s and women’s 200 IM and 50 free were swum this morning.

In the women’s 200 IM, current SSC Record holder Rebecca Matthews of Lynn had the fastest time of the morning with a 2:02.71. St. Leo’s Nicole Weber came in second this morning with a 2:05.77 and Southern Florida’s Morgan Burns touched third with a 2:06.14.

Matthew Holmes from Florida Southern had the fastest time of the morning in the men’s 200 IM with a 1:49.18. Right behind him was Nova Southeastern’s Marco Aldabe who went a 1:49.28 for second and Antonio Nunez from Florida Southern who touched third with a 1:49.59.
