Sweden Releases Qualifying Standards For 2017 Worlds Sjostrom and Coleman PreSelected

The Swedish Swimming Federation has announced the times that it will require before selecting athletes to compete at the 2017 World Championships and other major international competitions in the next year.

Interestingly, Sweden will give a pass to its swimmers who qualified for individual Olympic finalist this year in Rio. That includes Sarah Sjostrom, who won gold in the 100 fly, silver in the 200 free and bronze in the 100 free, as well as Michelle Coleman, who joined Sjostrom in the final of the women’s 200 free.

According to a rough translation of the listed requirements, other swimmers will have to swim the required times at the Stockholm Open April 8-11 of next year. Times swum at other meets can be approved by Sweden’s head coach, Ulrika Sandmark.
