Swimming World Magazine Presents 10 Best Performances of 2015

The year before the Olympics often features some breakthrough swims that get fans excited about the upcoming Olympics. The performances we saw in 2015 did that in a big way, prompting many to believe that what took place in the pool around the world this year will be tough to top in 2016.

At the men’s NCAA Division I Championships held in March in Iowa City, IA, Stanford’s David Nolan became the first man to ever swim under 1:40 in the 200 Individual Medley, earning himself both an American and U.S. Open Record in the event. Nolan’s barrier-breaking swim is just one of several notable performances from 2015.

Author Jeff Commings names ten of the greatest swims the swimming community witnessed in 2015, which included multiple new World, American, and U.S. records being set. In 2015 several barriers were broken down, setting the stage for an exciting 2016 as the Olympic Summer Games in Rio rapidly approaches.
