Tucker Dupree and Michelle Konkoly Break 3 American Records

Tucker Dupree and Michelle Konkoly set 3 new American Records this past weekend at the ECAC Championships, held at the US Naval Academy.

The ECAC Inclusive Sports Initiative, which was set into motion this weekend, will soon allow Paralympic Classified athletes to score at collegiate meets. This weekend was the first test in implementing the system, and was a resounding success. Michelle Konkoly posted a 55.45 in the 100 yard free, breaking the S9 category American record. She explained the excitement of the historic moment, and the opportunities the Initiative offers Paralympic Classified athletes.

To Michelle, the changes have “the potential to drastically change the way college programs see swimmers with disabilities… as I stood behind the blocks and the announcer detailed these plans for greater inclusivity, I got goosebumps thinking of how history is in the making and my teammates and I are lucky enough to be a part of it.”
