Video Interview Townley Haas Still in Shock After Qualifying for Rio

In the closest event of the meet so far, Townley Haas got his hand to the wall first in the men’s 200 freestyle, stopping the clock in 1:45.66. He just out-touched Conor Dwyer, who finished second in 1:45.67.

Haas was seeded seventh coming into the meet, dropping nearly two seconds to earn his first Olympic berth.

Haas, who just finished his freshman year at the University of Texas, is the current NCAA, American, and U.S. Open record holder in the 200 yard freestyle.

His teammate Jack Conger finished third to qualify as a member of the 4×200 relay. Haas also finished third in the 400 meter free earlier this week.
