Virginia’s Leah Smith raced away from Georgia’s Brittany MacLean to defend her women’s 1650-yard freestyle title at the 2016 NCAA Division I Women’s Championships.
While Smith wasn’t able to challenge her NCAA record time of 15:25.30, she did pick up the victory with a time of 15:32.72 to complete the 500-1650 free double. Â That’s the ninth fastest time ever.
