Yulia Efimova Filing an Appeal on Olympic Ban with CAS

Yulia Efimova announced plans to file a lawsuit to appeal her ban from the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Yesterday, FINA declared that she and six other Russian teammates were no longer eligible for the Olympics. That decision came as a result of the International Olympic Committee’s decision to avoid a blanket ban, and put the responsibility on International Federations.

Her agent told media that the lawsuit “will most likely be filed at (Court of Arbitration for Sport) CAS on July 29.” That would leave just a week before the start of the Rio Olympic Games for a decision to be made.

Earlier this month the CAS backed a ban on Russian track and field athletes.
