Matthew Klotz Lowers 200 Back Deaf World Record By Nearly a Second

Editorial Coverage provided by Suit-extractor-logo

Matthew Klotz clocked a deaf world record of 2:03.50 just two weeks ago in order to qualify for Trials. This morning the 20 year old took nearly a second off that time with a 2:02.54 to lower the world record.

While that time will not earn him a semifinal swim, as he finished 35th, it was a notable swim coming from heat three. So far at Trials, fewer than a quarter of swimmers have been improving their seed times.

The LSU swimmer also holds the 100 backstroke deaf world record.
