Michigan Indiana Dominate First Day of Prelims at Mens Big Tens

By Andy Ross, Big Ten Beat Writer

Michigan and Indiana are head and shoulders ahead of the rest of the Big Ten at the 2016 Men’s Big Ten Championships in West Lafayette. The Wolverines were not as dominant as usual in the 500 free, but they placed at least two people in each of the swimming events for finals on Thursday night.

PJ Ransford, Dylan Bosch and Paul Powers are the top seeds in their respective events as Powers broke the Big Ten record in the 50. Powers will get heat from Ali Khalafalla of Indiana in the 50 final. Ransford, Anders Nielsen and Wisconsin’s Matt Hutchins are expected to battle it out in the 500, while Bosch, Pete Brumm and Evan White will be looking to sweep the 200 IM.
