Morning Swim Show Relive Breeja Larson At The 2012 Olympic Trials

In this Morning Swim Show episode, Breeja Larson said that her gold medal performance in the 100M Breaststroke surprised her. Larson talks about what goes on in her head before she races, a place her father and her refer to as the “nothing box”. She says, “When you race, that is not time for thinking, it is a time to just let your body do what you want”.

Larson was then asked to go into detail about how she has evolved as a swimmer at Texas A&M. She mentioned how there was a big turning point in terms of her swimming the summer after her freshman year after encountering a cancer scare. The test results for the cancer came back benign and Larson treated it as a second chance, particularly in the way that she looks at swimming.

Larson went on to win a gold medal with the women’s 4×100M medley relay at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
