NC States Fast Relay Ends Nike Cup

North Carolina State made sure that the Nike Cup ended with a bang.

The Wolfpack’s 400-yard freestyle relay team of Ryan Held, Simonas Bilis, Joe Bonk and Andreas Schiellerup won the event by over five seconds. The team went a 2:50.94, an NCAA ‘A’ time standard.

The day started off with swimming’s marathon event: the 1650-yard freestyle. Eva Fabian of Yale took the women’s title, swimming the race in 16:17.09. Fabian finished under two-tenths of a second ahead of Cailley Silbert, her Bulldog teammate. On the men’s side, North Carolina State’s Anton Ipsen won the race by 15 seconds, posting a time of 14:52.00.

Duke’s Maddie Hess brought home the women’s 200-yard backstroke title with a time of 1:55.14. Nic Graesser of North Carolina won the men’s event in 1:46.41.
