Press Conference DiRado Its So Fun To Be Swimming This Well

Maya DiRado added a third event to her schedule next month in Rio, this time in the women’s 200 back. She finished first in 2:06.90, nearly a full second ahead of 2012 gold medalist and world record holder Missy Franklin.

Her time makes her the fifth fastest American female in history and ranks her fourth in the world this year.

DiRado, who trains with Stanford under head coach Greg Meehan, will also represent Team USA after sweeping both the 200 and 400 IM earlier this week.

The first-time Olympian said that this race was fun and she enjoyed getting her hand on the wall first. She also talked about keeping things in perspective and focusing on the process.
