Press Conference Ledecky Took Care of Business This Week in Omaha

Distance star Katie Ledecky will get the chance to defend her title in the women’s 800 free next month in Rio. She won tonight’s final in 8:10.32, nearly ten seconds ahead of the rest of the field.

Although the 2012 gold medalist fell off world record pace, her final time sits as the third fastest of all-time. She’ll aim to break her own world record of 8:06.68 she set earlier this year.

Ledecky has gone 15-for-15 in major international competition wins since her gold medal performance in London. She also holds the world records in the 400 free and 1500.

The two-time Olympian, who is currently the youngest on the roster, will also swim the 200 and 400 freestyles in Rio after winning both events this week in Omaha.
