The lab in Rio that was to be responsible for processing Olympic drug test samples has been suspended by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
The suspension began two days ago, on June 22. The lab has the ability to appeal the suspension, which was made because of “a non-conformity with the International Standard for Laboratories.”
Incoming director Olivier Niggli assured that, “WADA will work closely with the Rio Laboratory to resolve the identified issue.” He also added that athletes should be confident in how the situation will be resolved.
