Olympic gold medalist Cesar Cielo, who scratched out of the chance to make the Brazilian Olympic roster in the 100, threw down a swift time in prelims of the men’s 50-meter free at the 2016 Maria Lenk Trophy meet.
Cielo became the sixth Brazilian under the FINA A cut this year in a qualifying event with a 21.99. Â That swim moved him up to seventh in the world rankings, and put him in the mix with Bruno Fratus (21.50) as the top two swimmers from Brazil in either the Brazil Open or this meet.
