UNC Announces Captains For 20162017 Season

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs have elected their 2016-17 team captains as announced by UNC head swimming coach Rich DeSelm.

Sophomore Caroline Baldwin of Westfield, N.J. and junior Hellen Moffitt of Alexandria, Va., have been chosen as the co-captains of the women’s team for next season.

Junior Matt Conway of Grayslake, Ill., and junior Jack Nyquist of Alpharetta, Ga., have been elected as co-captains of the 2016-17 men’s squad.

Baldwin is coming off a tremendous sophomore campaign during which she earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 200-yard medley, 400-yard medley, 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relays.  During 2015-16, she helped establish school records in the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays.  At the ACC Championships, she finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke, seventh in the 50-yard freestyle and ninth in the 100-yard freestyle. She also swam on the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relays which reached the awards podium with bronze medal finishes.
