Morning Swim Show Relive Dana Vollmer At The 2012 Olympic Trials

In this Morning Swim Show episode, Dana Vollmer said, “I want that speed, but doing it with a little less energy. That’s part of trials… all the emotions that goes into trying to put your hand on the wall first. Obviously my goal is to get first or second no matter what it looks like…” after swimming her semi-final race in the 100 meter butterfly at the 2012 USA Olympic Trials.

Vollmer went on to compete in the 2012 Olympics in London where she won a gold medal in the 100-meter butterfly and broke the world record with a time of 55.98. She was the first woman to go faster than 56 seconds in the 100-meter event. Vollmer also claimed gold medals in the 4-by-100-meter medley relay and the 4-by-200-meter freestyle relay at the 2012 Olympic Games.
