Video Interviews Distance Stars Ledecky Smith Finish 12 Again

Katie Ledecky will get the chance to defend her title in the women’s 800 free next month in Rio. She won in 8:10.32, nearly ten seconds ahead of the rest of the field.

Although the 2012 gold medalist fell off her own world record pace, her final time sits as the third fastest of all-time.

Leah Smith concluded a fantastic meet by finishing second in 8:20.18, good enough for third in the world this year. That’s a personal best for her by four seconds.

The two distance stars will also represent Team USA in the 400 free and will both be members of the 4×200 free relay.
