There was another session of impressive swimming in Monaco Sunday evening, in the final session of the first stop of Mare Nostrum.

Chad Le Clos clocked a meet record 51.58 in the 100 butterfly. That time ties him for seventh in the world this year, matching Joseph Schooling‘s time from the Longhorn Aquatics Elite Invite on Friday. In 52.11 Steffen Deibler of Germany was second and Russia’s Evgeny Koptelov was third in 52.40.
Paul Biedermann posted a dominant effort in the 200 freestyle. The German clocked a 1:46.71. Le Close was second in 1:49.28, just .01 ahead of Welson Sim of Malaysia in 1:49.29.
