Joseph Schooling Nearly Cracks 44 With 4401 NCAA Record in 100 Fly

Texas’ Joseph Schooling, who admitted he wasn’t feeling the best heading into the race, broke the NCAA and U.S. Open record in the men’s 100-yard fly at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships.

Schooling unloaded a blistering time of 44.01 to defend his NCAA title.  He won with a 44.51 last year that is the fourth-fastest time ever.

Schooling’s 44.01 blasted the NCAA and U.S. Open record of 44.18 set by Stanford’s Austin Staab back in 2009.
