Josh Prenot Blasts 2ndFastest 400 IM Ever for Cals First NCAA Title In Event

California’s Josh Prenot delivered California its first ever men’s 400-yard IM title with the second-fastest time in the event’s history at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships.

Prenot crushed the field in the front half, and turned in a strong breaststroke leg before winning in 3:35.82. Only Chase Kalisz has been faster with an NCAA and American record time of 3:34.50 from 2014.

Texas’ Will Licon, the defending champion from 2015 with a fifth-ranked 3:36.37, took second this time around in 3:37.40.
