Mitchell Cooper Shines As Emory Men Fall To Delta State Women Top D2 Opponents

The Eagles of Emory University beat both of their Divison two opponents Saturday afternoon. Emory scored 178 points against Delta State’s 120 and 176 against University of West Florida’s 124. West Florida narrowly defeated Delta State 151 to 147.

Delta State’s team of Anastasia Klyarovskaya, Kirsten Stroven, Kierstin Page, and Chloe Bennett outtouched Emory in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:45.69. The team’s momentum continued as Melanie Tombers claimed the 1000 (10:17.13) by a full ten seconds. The junior also claimed the last event of the day, stopping the clock at 4:32.27 in the 400 IM.

Emory found their way to the top taking the top two spots in the 200 freestyle. Cindy Chen lead the way with a B cut time of 1:52.61. Delta State fired back as Klyarovskaya touched first in the 100 backstroke (56.55). The junior went on to win the 200 backstroke as well (2:01.63).
